Tool Kumar tool
YAML to JSON
Paste a YAML document and turn it into JSON for an API, test fixture or debugging session. The importer handles mappings, sequences, scalars and quoted values.
How to use this tool
- Paste YAML or open a .yaml or .yml file.
- Choose YAML → JSON when the importer detects YAML.
- Review the formatted JSON, then copy or download it.
Worked example
The formatted JSON below is produced by importing this YAML sample.
Input · example.yaml
name: Ada
age: 36
active: true
tags:
- json
- tools
Output
{
"name": "Ada",
"age": 36,
"active": true,
"tags": [
"json",
"tools"
]
}Options and edge cases
- Plain mappings and sequences become JSON objects and arrays.
- Quoted values remain strings; unquoted numbers and booleans become JSON values.
- Anchors, custom tags and executable YAML are outside the plain-data importer.
Private by default
Your document stays in this browser. Tool Kumar parses, converts and creates downloads on your device, with no account or upload step.
YAML to JSON questions
- Does the importer support YAML lists?
- Yes. Indented dash items become JSON arrays, including arrays nested inside objects.
- What YAML features are unsupported?
- The importer focuses on plain data. Custom tags, anchors and application-specific directives may need a YAML library.
- Can I open a YAML file?
- Yes. Use Open file and Tool Kumar detects .yaml and .yml extensions before importing.
