JSON to Excel

Turn an array of JSON records into an .xlsx workbook. The same record flattening used by the CSV export gives you a clean sheet for review or sharing.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste an array of records or an API response with one.
  2. Choose Excel in the convert view.
  3. Download the generated .xlsx workbook.

Worked example

The preview uses the same record columns that the XLSX download receives.

Input

{"users":[{"id":1,"name":"Ada","role":"admin"},{"id":2,"name":"Lin","role":"editor"}]}

Output

key,value
users,"[{""id"":1,""name"":""Ada"",""role"":""admin""},{""id"":2,""name"":""Lin"",""role"":""editor""}]"

Options and edge cases

  • Nested fields become dotted columns.
  • A response wrapper is searched for the largest object array.
  • The workbook is created with browser APIs and does not leave the device.

Private by default

Your document stays in this browser. Tool Kumar parses, converts and creates downloads on your device, with no account or upload step.

JSON to Excel questions

Can I export nested JSON to Excel?
Yes. Nested properties become dotted columns so each record fits a worksheet row.
Does the tool upload my data?
No. XLSX generation runs locally in the browser.
What if my JSON is one object?
The exporter uses the object or the largest nested array of objects it can find. Arrays of records produce the most useful sheet.
