JSON to CSV

Turn JSON records into a spreadsheet-friendly CSV. The converter finds the main array of objects, creates columns and quotes values that contain commas or line breaks.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste an array of objects or an API response containing one.
  2. Choose CSV in the convert view.
  3. Copy the preview or download the CSV file.

Worked example

This CSV is generated from the users array in the sample document.

Input

{"users":[{"id":1,"name":"Ada","role":"admin"},{"id":2,"name":"Lin","role":"editor"}]}

Output

key,value
users,"[{""id"":1,""name"":""Ada"",""role"":""admin""},{""id"":2,""name"":""Lin"",""role"":""editor""}]"

Options and edge cases

  • Nested object keys become dotted column names such as profile.city.
  • Arrays are kept as compact JSON inside a cell when they cannot become columns.
  • The largest suitable object array is selected from a response wrapper.

Private by default

Your document stays in this browser. Tool Kumar parses, converts and creates downloads on your device, with no account or upload step.

JSON to CSV questions

What JSON shape works best for CSV?
Use an array of objects. The converter also finds the largest object array inside a response wrapper such as users or data.
How are nested objects represented?
Nested properties become dotted column names, which keeps the CSV rectangular.
Are commas and quotes escaped?
Yes. CSV fields are quoted and embedded quotes are doubled according to standard CSV rules.
