JSON to Python

Turn a JSON response into Python Pydantic model definitions. Use the generated code as a typed starting point, then add domain validation.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste a JSON object or API response.
  2. Choose Python (Pydantic) in the convert view.
  3. Set a root name and copy the model definitions.

Worked example

The Python models below are generated from the sample JSON.

Input

{"name":"Ada","age":36,"active":true,"tags":["json","tools"],"profile":{"city":"London"}}

Output

from typing import List

from pydantic import BaseModel

class Profile(BaseModel):
    city: str

class Root(BaseModel):
    name: str
    age: int
    active: bool
    tags: List[str]
    profile: Profile

Options and edge cases

  • Nested objects become nested BaseModel classes.
  • Lists and optional values follow the observed sample.
  • Review date, decimal and union rules for production data.

JSON to Python questions

Does it generate Pydantic models?
Yes. The Python target emits Pydantic BaseModel definitions with typed fields.
What happens to JSON keys with hyphens?
The converter creates a valid Python field name and keeps the source key with an alias when needed.
Can I use a single JSON record?
Yes. A single object is enough to infer a model. Use a broad sample when fields vary.
