Can every JSON error be repaired?

No. Slips such as quotes, commas and comments are fixed automatically. Missing text, such as a string cut off before its closing quote, has to be fixed by hand.

Does repair change my values?

Values stay the same, except NaN and Infinity, which JSON cannot represent and which become null. Review the output before you use it.

Worked example

This sample mixes common mistakes: a comment, unquoted keys, single quotes, Python True and None, a trailing comma, a missing comma and NaN. The output is the repaired document.

Options and edge cases

Fixes comments, unquoted keys, single-quoted strings, trailing commas, missing commas between properties, Python True, False and None, and Markdown code fences around pasted JSON.
NaN and Infinity have no JSON form, so they become null. Check the output when those values matter.
Some input cannot be repaired, such as a string with no closing quote. The banner then reports an error and its location instead.
Repair keeps the digits of your numbers and the order of your keys.
